PayPal will not be coming to Pakistan despite the government’s efforts to convince the American company, which operates a worldwide online payment system that supports online money transfers, to introduce its services in the country.
According to the details, officials at PayPal have told the Pakistani delegation that as of now Pakistan is not part of their programme for at least three years citing lack of business opportunities in the country.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology Secretary Maroof Afzal informed the Senate committee today that Paypal’s internal working is such that “they are not ready to introduce its services”, local media reported.
Earlier, In February, Asad Umar, the former finance minister has announced that the government was committed to bringing PayPal to Pakistan.
PayPal allows people in over 200 countries to send and receive money and acts as an international bank account.
