Pakistan lodges protest with India over ceasefire violations along LoC

Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned to Foreign Office today and a strong protest was lodged over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control on Tuesday.

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal said an elderly lady embraced martyrdom while three other civilians sustained serious injuries in the Indian Army's indiscriminate and unprovoked firing in Nezapir and Bagsar sectors of LoC.

He said Indian occupation forces along the LoC and Working boundary have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars, and automatic weapons, which still continues.

The Spokesperson said the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.

He said the ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.

The Director General South Asia and SAARC urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement; investigate these and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
