Pakistan authorities destroy over 130 tonnes of drugs

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) burned more than 130 tonnes of confiscated drugs on Tuesday, during a ceremony in Islamabad, according to officials.

Pakistan is taking strict measures to stop drug trafficking from neighbouring Afghanistan and Pakistani tribal areas.

Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) said the drugs set on fire were seized in Pakistan, according to officials.

"This is not being grown in Pakistan, this is passing through Pakistan or this is being used in Pakistan. This is being grown in Afghanistan," Major General Musarrat Nawaz Malik, Director General, Anti-Narcotics Force, said during the ceremony.

He added that his team had been working closely with the United Nations and individual governments to combat drugs trade.— AP
