PARTLY FACETIOUS: What constitutes a closed chapter?

"There is nothing definitive about politics."

"I don't get you."

"Alliances change and lotas abound."

"Isn't that sort of unique to this part of the world...I mean once someone is out of power Approvers shift loyalties and..."

"Hey, stop that immediately. You know that Dar sahib never ever changed his loyalty. Yes he became an approver but he never ever changed his loyalty."

"He is the only approver in the rather lota-bound checkered political history of this country."

"Precisely and when I say he is unique in the annals of our politics then I have some basis for that."

"You are being facetious."

"No, I mean a Zahid Hamid and a Marvi Memon and a Daniyal Aziz to name just a few have served, and need I add serviced admirably, Musharraf and Mian sahib."

"You mean served?"

"What?"

"You said serviced admirably...they don't service they serve."

"I define serve as reflective of a lord and master versus serf relationship and service is rendered when today's serf turned lota can wither form a liaison if directed and provide service to his/her previous lord and master."

"Doesn't cut any ice with me, but anyway while there is nothing definitive about politics there is everything definitive about a Pakistani politician once he assumes power."

"Good God!"

"Let me explain - is the affidavit of our AID not a closed chapter as per AID?"

"Yes."

"Isn't the retirement of Rs 480 billion circular debt on the second last day of 2012-13 declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Auditor General of Pakistan not a closed chapter, so declared by Khawaja Asif."

"Yes."

"Right, and isn't the Khan a closed chapter for the man who holds the charge of being non partisan - the man with the Hitlerite moustache?"

"Ayaz Sadiq is just hitting back at the Khan besides he is a mild man so referring to him as Hitler...."

"I just referred to the moustache - besides the Khan doesn't hold the portfolio which requires him to be non partisan."

"True, but a closed chapter, right?"

"Right."-Business Recorder
