ISLAMABAD: Asma Jahangir's petition seeking transfer of the Tayyaba torture case from the high court to the relevant district court dismissed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday and ruled that the trial of the case will be held in IHC, Aaj News reported.Â
Islamabad High Court (IHC) on friday heard a petition filed by Human rights activist and lawyer Asma Jahangir, on behalf of the civil society, seeking the transfer of the case to a district court and to become a party in the case. However, the court dismissed the application.
According to the verdict, the trail of Tayyaba torture case will be taken place in IHC instead of Magistrate.
The case of ten-years old child maid has shocked many in Pakistan after social media images allegedly showing injuries to the girl’s face and hands went viral.
The widely-publicised images of her injuries caught the attention of the Supreme Court, which issued a motion initiating a legal case.
