Government launches several uplift projects in Mohmand Agency

Assistant Political Agent (APA) Mohmand Agency Pir Abdullah Shah has said that the government has started work on several developmental projects in the most backward area of Khewazi Biazai of the tribal agency so that to provide equal opportunities and facilities to the tribesmen of border areas.

He was talking to media persons at Mohmand Press Club at the Agency headquarter Ghalanai on Friday. He said that year 2015 was the phasing out of the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in the area which were formed by the government to cope with militancy in the tribal region.

Pir Abdullah said that the political administration handles these committees in a better way therefore all the heads of committees in Biazai Sub-Division voluntarily surrendered weapons to the local administration.

"No doubt Village Defense Committees rendered sacrifices in the war on terror in the region but now the time that the government should take back their roles of these committees which were given to them," he added.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ex-governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan on the occasion approved Rs 30 million special package for the border areas which were included all the integrated schemes.

Abdullah Shah said that works on 8 solar-based drinking water supply schemes are in progress in Zor Kali, Samghai, Gat Warsak, Soran Darra and Tor Khel areas of the border region so that provide drinking water.

He also hailed the efforts of local tribal elders, FC and Pak Army proving foolproof security in also their part in development activities like 14 NLI (Northern Light Infantry) established a middle school in the Shandarra border area.

He said that the admiration also set up a community school in the far-flung area of Jarobi Darra where there was not a single school in the area.
