Two types of pores
It is a truth that pores do have two types. You skin is made up of two oil and sweat pores. Moreover, the oil ones are hair follicles. They have a sebaceous gland that produces oil (sebum) also these pores are the sources of our cosmetic discontent. "The sweat glands are smaller hence it is the hair follicles that bothers and got blocked", said a dermatologist, Gervaise Gerstner.
Purpose behind pores
The purpose behind the pores is required to know, which is, oil pores are essential for the growth of hair. Every adult has around five million pores of his body and only 20,000 are on face only. The bacteria enters when pores clogged with oil and dead skin cells, then blackhead or maybe whitehead forms. However, the skin grows inflamed or red in return which caused pimple.
Blackhead is dirt
This is a myth that blackhead is a dirt which is being believed over the decades. According to Dr. Gerstner, blackhead is just a clogged pore with oil and dead skin but it is oxidized sebum (oil) actually. Also, the sebum is white. There might be dirt in pore but most of the time it is just oil.
Close and Open poreÂ
Pores can be closed and open, not true, it is myth, explained by Tennessee-dermatologist, Christopher W.Robb, MD. Pores can go from smaller to larger and steam can loosen them or can be tighten by cold water, but they cannot be closed or open like door, the Dr. further added.
Ageing affects pores sizeÂ
"This is a sad truth, when our body's natural production of elastin and collagen drop with ageing, our skin gets floppier and hence our pores appear larger", says Dr. Gerstner.
Pores can not treatedÂ
It is a myth that a person can not treat pores. Surely, a person can not do anything to its size but there are steps that made them appear smaller. Also, sebum, oxidation, blackheads makes pores visible. But with the help of skincare, gentle scrubbing it can be treated or pores can be tighten, says Dr. Keaney. Additionally, there are products available in the market that are designed specifically for pores. Hence, they are curable.
