Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that real money trail was the one that Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar had admitted in his confessional statement.
Talking to media persons, he once again lashed out at the government, saying the government can not escape this time and the people will chase him no matter wherever it goes.
He questioned how did the Sharifs managed such a huge sum of money for Gulf Steel Mills, saying the trail of money for such a huge investment must be traced.
The PTI chairman said that Dar's statement in which he spilled the beans against Nawaz Sharif has all the money trail.
"I just want to ask what kind of a country is this where a person who had openly confessed in writing of money laundering for his immediate boss [Nawaz Sharif] is the finance minister," he wondered.
He demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying after the Panama Leaks scandal, he has no right to stay on and look after the affairs of the country as its chief executive.
To a question, he said that his party would accept any decision of the apex court, adding the Panamagate case would define the future of the country and the whole nation has fixated its eyes on the apex court as it is defining moment.
About his own flat in London, Khan said that he never denied owning his flat and he had not earned money for that from unfair means.
Later presiding over a meeting of the party at his Bani Gala residence, he took stock of the situation. The meeting which was attended by the senior leadership of the party noted that Nawaz Sharif has completely failed to establish the money trail for his wealth abroad.
"The confessional statement by Dar is a fact which now he's trying to distort, but they can not befool the nation any longer. The letters after letters by the Qatari prince are nothing but exercise in futility," noted Imran.
The meeting noted that after the confessional statement by Ishaq Dar, the case of the Sharifs has lost its worth, adding no matter how many letters they bring, they could not change what Dar had stated in his affidavit.
The meeting was concluded on a happy note that within few days the apex court will give its verdict that will determine the future of the country as well as those who plundered the national wealth through money laundering and built empires for their children abroad.
