ISLAMABAD: A five member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa on Thursday resumed hearing of Panama Papers Case, Aaj News reported. 

Makhdoom Ali Khan, the counsel of the Prime Minister completed his arguments today. In his arguments, he pleaded that Maryam Nawaz is not dependent on his client. He said the court will be informed about all the properties and assets. The court will also be informed as to how these assets were accumulated.

Makhdoom Ali Khan said that apart from gifts, Maryam Nawaz had also other sources of income.

During the hearing, the top court pointed out that the time-frame in which the appointment of the PM can be challenged following the election through Article 225 is limited.

Justice Khosa said that once this time period expires, the court can be asked to review the appointment under Articles 184/3 and Article 199.

In his remarks, Justice Khosa further said that we want to give opportunities to all the parties of the case to present their submissions.

Tomorrow the lawyer of Jamat-e-Islami Taufiq Asif will submit his arguments.

Later, the court adjourned hearing of Panama case till tomorrow (Friday).

In last hearing, PM's counsel told the court that the accusations of tax evasion made against the Prime Minister are incorrect. PM’s counsel accepts that the PM had given gifts to his children but those gifts had been transferred through banks.

Khan maintained that Maryam Nawaz’s name was listed as the PM’s dependent on tax forms because there was no other column on the sheet. “The purpose of writing her name on the form was not to declare her a dependent,” the lawyer argued.
