ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Wednesday resumed hearing of the Panama Papers case in Islamabad, Aaj News reported.Â
A five-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsan conducted the hearing of Panamagate case.
The apex court remarked that there is a contradiction between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statements that were given to the court and those that were made on the floor of the August house.
In his remarks, the chief justice said that the private media should conduct itself in a dignified manner and avoid making irresponsible statements.
The bench also noted that the newspaper cuttings can not be given much weightage in this case.
The counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami prayed the court to constitute a commission for investigation into Panama Papers
In a joint reply by the children of Prime Minister Nawaz Shari Maryam, Hussain Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz claimed that all charges baseless. They also submitted their asset details.
Counsel of the PTI, Naeem Bukhari, submitted his arguments before the bench today and he is expected to conclude his arguments on next hearing.
The Supreme Court later adjourned the hearing of Panama Papers case till next Tuesday ( Dec 6).
