ISLAMABAD: The use of emotional outbursts and uncivilized language is unfortunately quite common in Pakistani politics, where scuffles are a regular show between members of opposing parties, but things do get really ugly when allies collide.

Things took a U-turn between Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) when PAT General Secretary Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and PTI spokesperson Naeem-ul Haq got involved in a verbal brawl right outside the limits of the Supreme Court.

The incident occurred right after the court has ordered Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to submit his replies by Monday.

Profanity was exchanged between the senior members of both parties, even the intervention of Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rasheed didn’t work out as temperatures soar at both ends.

Earlier today, PTI and AML submitted their terms of references (ToRs) at the Supreme Court to set up a judicial commission to probe corruption allegations against PM Nawaz, stemming from revelations that his children owned offshore companies in the tax haven of the British Virgin Islands.

The apex court also made clear that if no consensus was made on the ToRs between the two parties in the case, it would come up with its own terms for the formation of the inquiry commission.

PTI chief Imran Khan and the other political leadership of the country attended the court proceeding today.
