Marvel's latest superhero is truly inspirational

WEB DESK: Previously, Marvel Comics introduced its first female Muslim superhero, Ms. Marvel, aka Kamala Khan. And as per its repertoire, Marvel has introduced a new superhero int he times of need, who is none other than Syrian mother, trapped in a besieged country. The character is known as Madaya Mom, reports The Independent.

"This is the true story of one mother and her family who have been trapped inside the Syrian town of Madaya for more than a year. Madaya Mom is fighting off starvation, unsanitary living conditions and violent threats as she and her children are caught between warring factions in the country’s civil war." quotes ABC News.

Speaking to The National, artist Dalibor Talajic spoke about not sensationalising the comic. "I didn’t want to do a war comic," he told the publication. "I wanted to make a comic with a civilian point of view, where you’re really powerless. You can’t do anything. You’re just waiting for it to pass or for you to die.”

"Our bodies are no longer used to eating," she says in one panel. "My children are hungry but are getting sick, severe stomach pains from the food because their bodies aren’t able to digest and absorb the food because they were hungry for so long.” In Madaya, scores of people have died from starvation and the inhabitants are unable to seek help from the outside world.

The comic creator , who is famous for his work in Deadpool, said, "I didn’t want to do a war comic. I wanted to make a comic with a civilian point of view, where you’re really powerless. You can’t do anything. You’re just waiting for it to pass or for you to die."

The comic is available here for free.
