Shahid Afridi has made it clear that he will move court against Javed Miandad if the latter failed to withdraw his allegations, which he said caused pain and grief to him, his family and fans. "Javed Bhai has pardoned me? Thanks, But has he withdrawn his allegations, what has he got to say to that?" he put a question on his verified Twitter account.
"His allegations caused pain & grief to me my family and my fans, is he retracting from his actual allegation?" he questioned. He expressed hope that Miandad would soon take back his actual words otherwise he will have to seek answer and justice to clear his reputation in court.
"I consider him an elder and hope he'll take back his actual words Else I'll have to seek answer and justice to clear my reputation in court," he said.
"Nothing matters more to me than playing for my country with pride, no one can accuse me of selling my country," Afridi added. "I want to stress that I have great respect for Javed Bhai he is our hero, our legend, he's my mentor too. I'll never lose regard for him," he concluded.
Earlier, Ending his row and recent war of words, Miandad announced that he is forgiving Afridi, expressing well wishes for him.
"Being an elder I forgive him, Shahid is the one who is groomed and trained in my hands, whatever happened, I pardon him and pray for him, I wish him best of luck," Miandad said. "It's up to him to play for the country till he finds it necessary about how much and how long he can serve this country, but such things should not happen," Miandad further said.
Meanwhile, former captain Wasim Akram also stepped into the tussle and called upon authorities to sort out the "chaos". "The stones being thrown between 2 very respected cricketers calls for quick resolve by appropriate mediation instead of this unwanted chaos," he said on Twitter. "Javed Bhai & Shahid mean a lot to me & to Pakistan. It's really sad to see what's happening between them. InshAllah it will be over soon," he hoped.
The dispute arose on Sunday after Afridi spoke out against Miandad. Speaking at a ceremony, Afridi said that there is a huge difference between Imran Khan and Javed Miandad.
He was responding to a question about Miandad's comments on his alleged attempts to get farewell match. Afridi said Miandad should not have made such remarks. Miandad reacted to the comments, accusing Afridi of selling the country. Later, Afridi announced to take legal action against Miandad.
