WEB DESK: One of the most versatile actresses of Hollywood Meryl Streep was on a stage in Central Park, impersonating Donald J. Trump on Monday night.
The actress wore a men's suit with a fake padded belly and red tie to complete the look in a surprise appearance at the Public Theater Gala in New York.
The New York Times said Streep's version did a more than credible version of the presumptive Republican nominee, down to the pursed lips and low-hanging belly. She got the braggadocio-inflected voice, too, even while singing.
Streep's ‘Mamma Mia’ co-star Christine Baranski also dressed up as Hilary Clinton and the duo performed two songs.
Ms. Streep was part of the Public Theater’s gala benefit celebration on Monday night, a tribute to Shakespeare at the Delacorte Theater, home to Shakespeare in the Park. She was the closing act with Christine Baranski, doing ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare’, a number from the Cole Porter musical ‘Kiss Me, Kate’.
The crowd went crazy by the act and the surprise performance of Meryl Streep as Donald Trump. Reportedly, Streep skipped the dinner before the show to get into character, and spent time holed up in her dressing room. - Business Recorder
