SEOUL: - South Korea's jobless rate inched down in November from a month earlier, with new jobs being created in a number of service and manufacturing industries, government data showed Wednesday.
The jobless rate last month stood at 3.1 percent, down from October's 3.2 percent, Statistics Korea said.
Unemployment among those aged 15-29 remained substantially higher at 7.9 percent, marginally down on the previous month's 8.0 percent.
"New jobs were created in health, social welfare and manufacturing industries as well as construction", a senior Statistic Korea official said.
The agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors, however, employed 85,000 fewer workers than a year earlier due to seasonal factors, the data showed.
