JMCC, MCC to improve Pak-Saudi defence cooperation: Saudi minister

During a meeting with Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif here at the Ministry of Water and Power, the Saudi Deputy Defence Minister showed keen interest in defence products being produced at Pakistan Defence Industries.

He appreciated the quality and standard of the products being produced at low prices.

On the occasion, Khawaja Asif stressed that Pakistan had always looked upto its Muslim brothers and consistent support from Saudi Arabia was commendable in the regard.

He said, "Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy brotherly and cordial relations, which are based on historic bonds of mutual trust and understanding."

Saudi Arabia had always supported Pakistan on all major issues at national, regional as well as international level, he added.

He said Pakistan had faced a lot of difficulties during the ongoing war on terror and had laid down unprecedented sacrifices in this regard.

"We have not only lost our brave and valiant soldiers in the line of duty but the civilian population has also suffered immense causalities," he added.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan believed in regional stability and a peaceful Afghanistan.

"We are also keen on supporting Afghanistan and strongly believe that it is in the interest of the region", he added.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Asif Yasin Malik and other top officials of the Ministry of Defence along with Saudi Ambassador Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghadeer.
