RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and others were charged by The Accountability Court on Friday (today) against Rs 22 billion Rental Power Projects (RPPs) scam case.
This case was heard by Muhammad Bashir, a judge of Accountability court. This case involves a scam of RS 22 billion swindle charged on Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and other 10 accused.
Raja Pervaiz Ahraf appeared with his counsel Farroq H Naek before the court.
While talking to media after the hearing of the case, he said that his character is clean and he has not done anything related to this scam. He is being portrayed on media with regrettable remarks. Further adding sentences to his speech, he said that, he is clean and performed his duty with sincerity, with utmost responsibility and honesty.
On this occasion, the defence lawyer Farooq H. Naek said that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has been charged on three counts, which has proved that he didn’t cause any loss to the exchequer and he didn’t indulge in any corruption. He said that the charges framed against his client include violation of PEPRA rules and other allegations.
While giving details and explanations on the media; Farooq Naek said that my client ( Raja Pervaiz Ashraf) has nothing to do with this scam. He will soon be vindicated from all the charges against him. He will come out clean, as he has refused to accept the charges.
The hearing the case has been adjourned until February 4.
