Inspection system being strengthened for uniform prices:Chief Secretary

MULTAN: Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema has announced that the inspection system is being strengthened at open markets to ensure uniform rates of commodities across the province.

Naveed Akram expressed these views while talking to journalists after visiting to fruit & vegetable market here on Friday.

Chief Secretary said that they were inspecting fruit & vegetable, grain and other markets to check the rates so that the citizens could buy the commodities at same prices.

"Strict action will be initiated against the profiteers.Shopkeepers should display the rate lists at conspicuous places",Cheema noted adding that the district administration had served notices to encroachers in the fruit & vegetable market.

He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the district administration in the market.

To a question, Chief Secretary said that a police picket has been set-up in the market to control dacoity bids.

Earlier, Acting Commissioner Multan Division, Zahid Saleem Gondal,briefed the Chief Secretary Punjab on the initiatives taken by the district administration.

On the occasion,EDO Agriculture,Sardar Akbar Khan said that the fruit & vegetable market was being monitored twice daily to check the rates.He added that uniform of porters was being finalised to maintain identification record.

IG Punjab Khan Baig, Acting Commissioner Multan Division Zahid Saleem Gondal, RPO Multan Amin Wains, CPO Sultan Ahmad Chaudhary and other officials also accompanied the Chief Secretary.
