This was stated by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar while presiding over a meeting of a committee constituted by Council of Common Interest to rename the Ministry of Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, which met at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday.
The meeting was held in the backdrop of an objection raised by the Government of Sindh over renaming of the ministry as the subject of Education had now devolved to the provinces after the passage of eighteenth amendment.
The representatives from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assured the Committee that they have no objection on the present name and were also ready to accept a change in its name in case the Federal Government decides so.
The Federal Minister for Finance solicited proposals, from the provinces to resolve the issue so that a consensus can be hammered out before the next meeting of the Council of Common Interest.
The Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh said that his government welcomed the gesture of the Federal Government in the matter and would come up with proposals by the next week.
The representative from Balochistan M Ali Kakar however requested that they would be looking for proposals emanating from the Federal Government and would make a choice from it.
The Finance Minister Ishaq Dar concluded the meeting by seeking proposal from the province within eight days for change in nomenclature of the Ministry so that the issue could be resolved.
Those who attended the meeting include Minister of State for Education Balighur Rehman and representatives of all the four provinces and senior officials of the ministry of Finance, Cabinet and Inter provincial Co-ordination.
