According to the sources, Sheikh Rasheed was questioned for some five hours but was not given a reason on why he had been detained, but later on the Pakistan Ambassador for  United States Sherry Rehman directed Pakistan’s Consul General in Houston to take up the issue of Rasheed’s detention with US authorities.

Consul General Aqil Nadeem talked to the airport authorities upon which Sheikh Rasheed was released later.  However, the reason for his detention was not immediately available.
