ISLAMABAD: In yet another drastic event within Pakistan's history, Supreme Court disqualified Yousuf Raza Gilani from his office on Tuesday.
The SC's verdict ruled Gilani to be disqualified in the "contempt of court" case further adding that there was no PM since SC gave its first verdict on April 26.
According to reports on Tuesday, many different names have come forward as potential candidates for replacing the ousted PM. The names that are in circulation include: Ahmed Mukhtar, President's spokesman Farhatullah Babar, Chaudhry Shujaat of PML-Q, Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Khursheed Shah.
Reports have indicated that a meeting would summoned under the headship of President Asif Zardari late on Tuesday evening in order to decide the new candidate for the Premiership. The meeting would comprise senior members of the PPP along with its major coalition partners.
It has also been reported that President is most likely to announce the new Prime Minister after the meeting and resolve this issue by tonight.
