SC adjourns graft case against CJ’s son

Chief Justice said to go at every level for the respect of judiciary.

Arsalan Iftikhar was charged over the allegation of money scam of Rs300 to Rs400 million during luxurious foreign tours by Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz.

The case was being heard by a three-judge bench comprising the chief justice, Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain.

The counsel for Arsalan is Advocate Malik Ishaq.

During the case hearing today, CJ summoned eight people including the CEO Bahria town, Ahmed Ali Riaz with the record, and ordered Malik Riaz to be presented by tomorrow.

Prior to the hearing, Arsalan Iftikhar denied the allegation against him, while CJ disowned his son until the case was not resolved and remarked that if Arsalan found to be involved in the scam the law will talk its course.

Attorney General Irfan Qadir said to the chief justice that he cannot be part of the bench as he is getting emotional for his son but CJ replied that he knows the judicial code of conduct and refused to leave the bench.

He directed the parties involved in the case to produce evidence in the court by tomorrow (June 7).

Besides, Malik Riaz wasn't present in the court and according to his family he is in London for some medical reasons.

The further case proceedings is underway.
