Pakistan's energy production reached it's record low on Wednesday after reporting an energy shortfall of 8,200 mega watts. Aaj News reported.

Pakistan, already in a power crisis has a demand of approx 16,400 mega watts during business hours, while only 8,200 mega watt is being generated currently. This shortfall of energy generation will result in longer loadshedding hours than now, which is up to 15 hours in urban cities and 20 hours in rural areas of the country.

As the situation worsens day by day, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) says that the energy crisis is on the rise because of which, a proper schedule of load shedding is not being followed.

The reason for this energy crisis according to sources, is the lack of oil and gas supply to powerhouses and the shortfall in water reserves are also adding to this power crisis. According to reports, supply of water has been suspended to some areas for weeks now which is creating more problems for the people.

Despite recent claims by the Water and Power ministry, energy generation is at its lowest rate in Pakistan's history. Meanwhile ordinary citizens, grown frustrated by the long load shedding hours have started coming out on streets in protest, all over the country.
