Khar hints towards resumption of NATO supplies

ISLAMABAD: A press conference was headed by the Federal Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, and the Information Minister, Qamar Zaman Kaira, on Monday. The congregation commenced after the end of a high-level meeting between President Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani and COAS Kayani.

About the NATO supply, the Foreign Minister said Pakistan tried to play a role of facilitator and did not charge any penny for the ten years on NATO supply and charged just nominal fee in the last two years.

She said negotiations are going on with US and NATO for the resumption of the supply to Afghanistan on the basis of recommendations of Parliament which is representative of the people of Pakistan. She further added that Pak-US relations could not be improved over night and expressed the hope that there will be positive results of the engagements of two countries presently going on at various levels.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan wants to be a facilitator to the international community to ensure stability in the region as it has been playing in the past as a responsible country.

Replying to a question on drone attacks, the Information Minister said Pakistan has very clear position on drone attacks, that these are counter-productive and violation of its sovereignty.

He said Pakistan has also conveyed its feelings and aspirations of the people of Pakistan on the drone attacks to the international community. (APP)
