Justice Khosa, in his additional note, has stated that Gilani’s behavior in the case clearly points towards larger troubles. He further states that if these troubles are not properly addressed, it would “overwhelm all of us as a nation.â€
Justice Khosa included Khalil Gibran’s poem “Pity the Nation†in the additional note.
The reason for quoting the poem was to state the public’s response with respect to PM Gilani’s decision. Justice Khosa, is assumed to be stating (via the poem) that the public has double standards as on one side the public is asking for justice for all and on the other it gets nervous when justice hurts its political allegiance.
Justice Khosa was a part of the seven-member bench that gave the verdict with respect to Gilani’s contempt case.
