During his speech in Rawalpindi GHQ at the day of Martyrs, COAS said the Constitution clearly determined the responsibilities of the national institutions.
Chief of Army Staff General Ishfaq Pervez Kayani has said that Armed Forces are committed to safeguard the security and sovereignty of Pakistan.
He stressed upon carrying out of countries affairs in accordance with the Constitution with an aim to raise the dignity of the country, adding this is the only way to further strengthen the country's security.
General Kayani said the Constitution had clearly determined the responsibilities and duties of national institutions and “it is imperative to fulfill our responsibilities in such a manner which improves our own and the country’s image.â€
AGENCIES: Gen. Kayani expressed his grief over the Siachen tragedy which took lives of 139 Pakistani soldiers. He said our precious personnel who are fulfilling their duties for the protection of the territorial integrity of the country have been trapped due to avalanche at Gayari sector.
He expressed his commitment to continue search and rescue operation till the recovery of each soldier. He also thanked the countries on extending support in search and rescue operation.
He said despite numerous sacrifices given by the Pakistan Army, some foreign forces have shown no-confidence and are propagating against Pakistan in the fight against terrorism which put the Pakistan Army in a state dilemma.
General Ishfaq Kayani said the aim of the Armed Forces is to make Pakistan a strong country.
He said Pak Army fully believes in the supremacy of democracy and its promotion and is working under the constitution.
He said Pakistan is in the state of war and will be victorious with the prayers of the nation.
Kayani expressed his dismay over attack on Salala check post in November.
He said a committed has been set up to verify the mutilated bodies in Balochistan.
