Microsoft's operating system, Windows 8, is available on Microsoft's official website as a free download-able Consumer Preview since February 2012.

The difference between Consumer Preview version and the Release Version might not be very big in terms of its features, but definitely would be an improved stability. Windows 8, will be available in three main editions: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and the Tablet based Windows 8.
