Polling assault verdict: Waheeda Shah disqualified

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the verdict in the Waheeda Shah slapping case.

The verdict was reserved till today by the Election Commission.

She is to be disqualified for two years, from participating in the elections and her victory in Tando Muhammad Khan is to be termed as void.

Chairing the proceedings Chief Election Commissioner Justice(r) Hamid Ali Mirza, along with Justice(r) Riyaz kayani, Justice(r) Fazlur Rehman, Shahzad Akbar Khan and Roshan Ali Essani passed the verdict against the accused candidate.

Waheeda Shah who contesting for PS-53 Tando Muhammad Khan. Was caught on camera violating the rules, by stepping foot into a polling station, and then slapping a presiding officer Habiba Memon and assistant presiding officer Shagufta Memon while Police officers present inside stood by idle wand watched.

She won in that constituency but the court suspended the results until a verdict was passed regarding her assaulting the election commission officer.

After due apologies speculations were that she be forgiven by the commission.

Agha Siraj Durrani her fellow PPP companion, said that it was only a slap we are talking about here, while so many people are killing other people, freely. He insisted that Waheeda Shah should be pardoned for her that unfortunate event.
