I have seen people who I’ve personally known to be smart, intellectual and well-aware; get out of their snugly homes, and go to a political JALSA. Speaking candidly, these were the kind of people who wouldn’t shed a drop of sweat if it was for Pakistan’s sake.

This sudden change is not really a change in character, it’s a change in opinion and sadly it’s not even self-inflicted, if it was, it would have been pleasant, but since it’s just a socially inflicted trend. It’s a perfect example of our hypocritical nature.

Now let us take a while to focus and evaluate, why do we like Imran Khan? I promise it won’t take long, probably because there isn’t much he has done.

To begin with, he won the world cup, then, he built a cancer hospital. After building the cancer hospital the only thing he did with exceptional efficiency, complete dedication and unrivaled sincerity was that he advertised. He advertised his accomplishments and kept going on and on about it until these two accomplishments started to seem like two hundred to the ordinary man.

Coming back to what he has done for Pakistan; you say, he won the world cup for us.

Well so did almost Shahid Afridi. With all sincerity, would you ever let a being like Shahid Afridi, make your life decisions?

I know I won’t!

It is; just cricket after all! And the world cup is a half-fixed sports tournament.

Then, you say he built the cancer hospital, let me just say that if he hadn’t done that, I would not be bothered enough to write about him. A good philanthropic deed should never go wasted. Maybe that’s why he still keeps reminding us that he built the hospital.

Then, you say he speaks his mind, unhindered.

Anyone can be loud and open if they have the permission, what is so unique or daring about that?
To say that Zardari is evil, Altaf is dirty; The Shareefs are not so ‘shareef’, is all true, I agree with these facts and so does every other Pakistani who has lived long enough to witness them, but if you come to think of it, why wouldn’t he shout out loud about those facts?

These are facts that we were all aware of, but needed to hear them in loud chants, out in the open.

My undemanding retard brain which is just like my every other Pakistani brother’s, gets in sync with these chants that Imran Khan bowls out to the media every now and then. Maybe this is why he does it. So the simple mind can understand and AGREE…

With affirmation comes subsequent following. You find yourself thinking; “If he’s right on this, he must be right on the other thing too.”

Let us not be mistaken here, I don’t write to pass judgment, I’m neither thwarted nor dejected by what I see happening around me. There was an element of surprise at the beginning but that also lost its color.

My sole feeling about how people are blindly following Imran Khan and his “party” is a feeling of sheer resentment. All because of inane logics like, “There’s no harm in ‘trying’ Imran Khan, he’s never been tried before” “Give him a chance!”

You know who needs a chance?

It is you; who needs a chance, not a famous celebrity turned politician turned leader.

All I’m trying to say is that if one loud act of philanthropy and being good at cricket can make you into a country’s leader, then that country is genuinely… doomed! And just for the record; my vocabulary has words throbbing to come out; describing a more accurate picture of this country’s fate, but unfortunately, even free of speech has its limits.
