‘Parliament to take decision on NATO supplies’

Talking to media persons here, the Interior Minister said Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had announced that only the Parliament's decision on NATO supplies would be implemented.

Regarding negotiations with the opposition on 20th Amendment, he said that Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Khursheed Shah was holding talks with opposition parties to develop a consensus. He hoped that all the conflicting issues would be resolved through negotiations.

Replying to a question about the suspension of membership of some parliamentarians, he said the matter was in the court and any decision in this regard would be taken according to law.

He said that the Federal Investigating Agency (FIA) was investigating into the drug-reaction issue, which has taken several lives in Punjab. Three drug manufacturers have been arrested and the report will be submitted to the Supreme Court which has taken suo motu notice of the issue, he added.

Regarding his application to the Speaker of the National Assembly to expunge the remarks of Leader of Opposition about law enforcement agencies, he said that any controversial remarks should not be the part of the Parliament's record.

Replying to a question, he said the nefarious designs of external forces in Balochistan would be foiled. The law enforcement agencies have traced the people who were involved in the killing of an innocent woman at the office of a cellular network company in Karachi, he added.
