Memo case: PCNS summons Ijaz on Feb 10

The committee’s meeting, chaired by Senator Raza Rabbani, also expressed its satisfaction over the arrangements made for Ijaz’s security.

Notices were issued to Ijaz on Thursday through the Foreign Office, asking him to appear before the commission on February 10 to justify his position.

The committee had earlier given an ultimatum to Ijaz to submit his reply until Thursday, January 26. Ijaz has twice refused to come to Pakistan and appear before the parliamentary panel, and a judicial commission, probing the issue, citing lack of security assurances.

The Attorney General of Pakistan briefed the committee today on the security arranged for Mansoor Ijaz, who is one of the central figures in the Memogate scandal.

It was also decided that the government will reconsider the security arrangements for Mansoor Ijaz.

If Mansoor Ijaz fails to appear on the said date the committee will pass on its recommendations to the concerned quarters, Senator Raza Rabbani said.
