PM portrays true picture of national economy: Dr Firdous

She said that economic indicators are moving in the right direction, which is reflective of the fact that inflation has been brought to a single digit. “Bringing the inflation to a single digit is unprecedented and an historic achievement of the democratically elected government,” she added.
Dr Firdous said that the country’s exports have witnessed a substantial increase during the last three years, while foreign remittances came to Pakistan at a good pace, giving stability to the national economy.
The minister said that all expenditures are under control as the government had not contacted the International Monetary Fund(IMF) for financial assistance since 2010, while borrowing from other financial institutions like the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank(ADB) were being managed in a better manner.
She said the country is self-sufficient in almost all the food items as all commodities are easily available in every nook and corner of the country at controlled rates. “Food inflation is on the declining trend as prices of daily use item have decreased in open market,” she added.
