RPPs can be abandon if not transparent: SC

During proceedings, Advocate Shahid Hamid, the counsel for Walters Powers International, told the court that the Naudero-1, Naudero-2, Kar K, Natko and Abbass steel initiated illegally. Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry remarked that the court is inquiring the transparency of the project and it can be halt if not transparent.

CJ Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry headed the case under two members bench on miscellaneous application on rental power plants project.

Advocate Shahid Hamid, informed the court that Federal Cabinet permitted Naudero-1 and Naudero-2 power plants Cheif justice  replied that even if the Cabinet allows anything illegal it doesn't become legal.

'Apparently, the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules have been violated. The projects cannot be termed legal if initiated without being advertised therefore rental projects can be declared void if proved non-transparent.
