In a statement issued by the MQM on Thursday, the MQM body said that “we sincerely respect the decision of the Supreme Court and hope that it will go a long way in bringing peace in the metropolis and that the criminal elements will be weeded out.â€
The Rabita Committee expressed gratitude to Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other judges of the apex court for taking notice of law and order situation and killings of innocent people in Karachi.
The notice helped in restoration of peace and protection of lives of innocent people, it said.
The Rabita Committee said that the MQM will continue to play its role for bringing peace and stability to Karachi.
The MQM body has invited all the religious and political parties to come forward and work together for bringing peace and stability and develop harmony and the environment of tolerance.
Haji Mohammed Adeel, the senior vice president of ANP, though welcomed the verdict, however said that the court verdict should have been comprehensive and specific directions should have been made which were missing.
On the other side Jamat e Islami criticized the decision of supreme court saying that the allegation of bhatta’ (extortion money) collection is unreasonable as JI has never involved in it.
