The statement said that Dr.Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations were a conspiracy to generate hatred and trigger violence in the province.
The Coordination Committee demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari and the higher leadership of the PPP to take serious notice of the absurd allegations of Zulfiqar Mirza and explain their position.
‘The Coordination Committee said that Zulfiqar Mirza should have told the nation why the incidents of kidnapping for ransom of the children of businessmen, industrialists, traders and shopkeepers and extortion started in Karachi soon after his becoming the Home Minister.
Zulfiqar Mirza should have informed as to who soaked the shopkeepers of Kabari Market in Sher Shah in blood a few months ago.
The accused against whom the shopkeepers had registered the case were handed over to the police in whose office and who threatened the shopkeepers with murder if they identified the killers’, it added.
The Committee asserted that it was Zulfiqar Mirza, who was aiding and abetting killers, terrorists, kidnappers, dacoits and other criminals involved in heinous offences.
The Coordination Committee said it was because of his patronage to the killers, terrorists, extortions and kidnappers that Zulfiqar Mirza kept silent when the Rangers carried out action in other parts of Karachi but when the Rangers moved against the criminal elements in Lyari, Zulfiqar Mirza started criticising Rehman Malik, who was overseeing the action thereby amply demonstrating that he was directly involved in the bloodbath in Karachi.
The Coordination Committee appealed to the public not to get aggravated at the malicious and ridiculous allegations of Zulfiqar Mirza and restrain their emotions.
The Committee hoped that the conspiracies against the MQM would come to naught, and the enemies of the MQM would not succeed in their efforts.
