According to eye witnesses, The blast occurred when the police stopped a motorcycle for routine checking. Bits and pieces of the motorcycle were strewn over a wide area following the blast at Malir Halt as a result four people were killed including three police men and five injured.

Three bodies were rushed to Jinnah Hospital.
