Police said that unidentified men had planted a 3-kg explosive material in an electricity pylon in Shafi Colony near Balochistan University on Sariab Road. They detonated the devise when a mobile police van was parked along the pylon.

3 people killed while several injured in the blast. Officials say 4 police officers were among those wounded in the blast. Injured have been shifted to the hospital. The blast also destroyed the police van.

Doctors have appealed to citizens to donate blood for the injured.

Police rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. No group immediately claimed responsibility.
