The victims, all believed to be teenagers, were among a group of villagers who were returning from a tour to a tourist resort in the southern coast of Java, the el-Shinta radio said.
It quoted Capt. Purwanto Puji Sutan of the local police as saying one of two rafts hired by the group to cross the Citarum River turned over at about 3:00 a.m. (2000 GMT) near the village of Mulya Sejati in Karawang district.
