According to Palestinian sources, the Israelis entered the village of Nahalim and encountered dozens of stone-throwing teenagers. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Shortly earlier, Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld told AFP they were investigating reports that "an Israeli citizen was seen being dragged and taken away from a construction site outside the settlement of Betar Illit."
Rosenfeld said police were searching the area and checking if any of the settlement's residents had gone missing.
A military source told AFP there were no signs of a missing Israeli citizen and that the reported incident was probably part of an internal Palestinian feud linked to the construction site.
