The local dignitaries, in a statement, asked armed groups to "re-think the means and methods of resistance so as not to harm the interests of our people".
More than 80 Palestinians were killed in Beit Hanun earlier this month when Israeli troops waged a six-day offensive.
An Israeli mother of two was killed last Wednesday in a fresh Palestinian rocket attack on the Jewish state, the first such deadly strike since Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005 after a 38-year occupation.
