Nazim seeks ADB's investment of $800m in Mass Transit

He was talking to Arif Parvez, who heads Pakistan Chapter of Clinton Foundation, and who met him here Monday. The two had an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest besides development in various sectors, particularly mass transit system.
Mustafa Kamal pointed out that Mass Transit is a mega project having different sectors. However, its BRT system can be developed in a short time.
With the start of work, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system can be developed within 12 to 18 months as its entire study and survey had already been completed.
He pointed out that city government is working in different sectors to solve the city's transport problems and for the first time the concept of signal-free corridor has been given and because of which a lot of traffic jam problems have been overcome and we cannot rid from them without working in various directions.
He emphasised that Mass Transit System is the only stable solution to solve Karachi's transport problems.
Mustafa Kamal fully endorsed the suggestion of Clinton Foundation for organising a big seminar on Karachi's transport problems in September to carry out future planning in the light of views and suggestions of experts.
