He further said that PIA wishes to ensure the airline gives top priority to air safety and follow maintenance practices consistent with the best global standards.
He added that the imposition of operational restrictions by European Union on some of PIA aircraft due to lapses pointed out by their inspectors were of serious concern and have been addressed on the highest priority.
The GM asserted that the EU Air Safety Committee on July 4th 2007 modified operational restrictions and allowed PIA's operation into the community with three Boeing 747-300, two Boeing 747-200 and six Airbuses A-130.
Moreover, PIA also achieved the ISO-9001: 2000 Quality Management System (QMS) Certification of its key service delivery functions and interaction with passengers.
The GM also mentioned the measures taken by the service to combat challenges. The manpower associated with aircraft refurbishment has been regrouped to meet EU standards, cost cutting measures have been introduced to offset all negative implications and growth and development plans have been substituted by recovery and rehabilitation strategies.
