He hold degrees of MA in English Literature, MA (History), MA (International Relations and Diplomacy) and M.Sc (Strategic Studies).
He joined Foreign Services of Pakistan on November 1, 1971. He held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan Missions abroad including Glasgow, Conakry, New York and Tehran.
He served at the headquarter as Officer on Special Duty, Section Officer, Director and Director General. He served as ambassador of Pakistan in Malaysia and France. He also served as Special Secretary Policy Planning, Research and Special Projects from January-March 2004.
Presently he is serving as Director General (BPS-22) in Foreign Service Academy since March 2004.
