The Saudi Arabian embassy in Kabul has officially resumed its services, more than three years after withdrawing diplomats due to the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.

The announcement was made on social media, stating that the embassy’s activities would restart as of December 22, in response to Saudi Arabia’s commitment to support the Afghan people.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not clarified the extent of its diplomatic representation in Kabul.

Following the Taliban’s return to power on August 15, 2021, Saudi Arabia initially withdrew its diplomats, citing an unstable situation.
