Dr Khalid Soomro’s murderes sentenced to life imprisonment

The decision in Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUIF) leader Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro’s murder case was pronounced.

Judge Abdul Rahman Qazi of the Sukkur Anti-Terrorism Court gave a short verdict in which all the 6 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment and heavy fines.

The accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment on the charge of murder and terrorism, while hey have been sentenced to 7 years in prison on the charge of weapons.

Athar Abbas Solangi, the lawyer of the slain Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro murder case, announced the verdict to the media and said that he will file an appeal in the higher court for justice.

The Special Anti-Terrorism Court reserved the verdict in the murder case on December 13. The court held more than 450 hearings in the Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro murder case and a total of 17 witnesses appeared in the case.

The six accused in the murder case were Hanif Bhutto, Sarang Totani, Mushtaq Mehr, Darya Khan Jamali, Lutf Jamali and Altaf Jamali. The accused have been imprisoned in the Central Jail since December 2014.

Dr Soomro’s son said that the guilty should have been sentenced to death and announced that the decision will be appealed in the High Court.
