ICC reaches agreement with PCB, BCCI for matches at neutral venue: report
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has resolved the deadlock surrounding India’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
According to ESPNcricinfo, a hybrid model has been agreed upon, ensuring all matches involving India in events hosted by Pakistan will be played at a neutral venue. Reciprocally, all matches involving Pakistan in events hosted by India will also be played at a neutral venue.
This agreement, pending ICC board approval, covers the 2025 men’s Champions Trophy (Pakistan), the 2025 women’s ODI World Cup (India), and the 2026 men’s T20 World Cup (India and Sri Lanka). It may also extend to the 2028 women’s T20 World Cup, awarded to Pakistan. The host board will propose neutral venues, subject to ICC approval.
Furthermore, the ICC has indicated its approval for a neutral-venue triangular or quadrangular T20I series involving India, Pakistan, and one or two other Asian nations.
This series is considered a form of compensation for Pakistan’s loss of hosting India’s matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
