Mystery of Punjab University student’s death resolved
The death of Rana Ammar, a student in the Gender Studies department at Punjab University, has been ruled a homicide, solving a mystery initially thought to involve motorcyclists.
Police have taken Umar’s friend, identified as Dilawar, into custody for questioning.
According to police sources, Ammar, Dilawar, and another student, Huzaifa, were in a car at the time of the incident. Dilawar was driving, Umar was in the front passenger seat, and Huzaifa was in the back seat where he reportedly had a firearm.
Police investigations reveal that Ammar was shot inside the vehicle and subsequently died at the hospital. Following the shooting, Huzaifa fled the scene, while Dilawar took Umar to the hospital.
Police have detained Dilawar and launched an investigation to determine whether the shooting was accidental or intentional. The initial assumption that the shooting was carried out by motorcyclists has been disproved.
The FIR states the incident occurred near the gymnasium within the university campus. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
