Pakistan’s first electric SUV, Seres 3, hits the market
Regal Automobiles Industries Limitedhas launched Pakistan’s first locally assembled electric SUV, the Seres 3, marking a significant advancement for the nation’s automotive industry and its transition towards sustainable transportation.
The launch event, held at RAIL’s manufacturing facility, celebrated not only a technological achievement but also a potential shift in the country’s automotive landscape.
The Seres 3 itself is a compelling offering. Powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) and equipped with a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery, it boasts a claimed range of up to 403 kilometers on a single charge (based on the NEDC cycle – New European Driving Cycle).
Performance figures are equally impressive, with a power output of 156 horsepower, 280 Nm of torque, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 8.9 seconds. Furthermore, the vehicle supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 0% to 80% in approximately 40 minutes. This addresses a common concern regarding electric vehicle adoption – charging time.
Inside, the Seres 3 provides a premium cabin experience. Features include a spacious interior designed for passenger comfort, a modern 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system offering advanced connectivity and entertainment options, and a comprehensive suite of safety features.
These safety features extend to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as lane-keeping assist warnings, forward collision warnings, and hill descent control, enhancing both safety and driver convenience. Specific details about the trim levels and available options were not released in the initial announcement.
Adeel Usman, Managing Director of Regal Automobiles, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating that the Seres 3 represents not only a proud moment for RAIL but also a significant step forward for Pakistan’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability.
He highlighted the potential for the Pakistani automotive industry to play a leading role in the global shift towards electric mobility.
