The Sindh cabinet has approved Rs232.14 million to conduct a retake of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) for candidates who sat the exam on September 22. The retake will be held free of charge, although a specific date has yet to be set.

The provincial health department has been tasked with ensuring the revised test is conducted smoothly by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Sukkur within the next six weeks.

This decision follows a directive from the Sindh High Court, which ordered a retake after an investigation revealed that the integrity of the original test was compromised.

The court mandated the provincial government to cover all costs associated with the retake and engage IBA Karachi or IBA Sukkur for the process.

During a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, it was also decided to establish vigilance committees in collaboration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to oversee the retake.

The Chief Minister noted that the test will adhere to the syllabus already taught in the province, disregarding validation from the previous year.

In addition, the cabinet approved the establishment of the Sindh Job Portal to streamline government job recruitment processes, and the formation of the Sindh Environmental Protection Council to enhance environmental governance in the province.

The cabinet also allocated Rs6.63 billion for the reconstruction of eight roads damaged by recent floods.
