Funeral prayers for police official killed PTI protest offered in D-Chowk
An Islamabad police officer, injured during clashes with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, has succumbed to his injuries. His funeral prayers were offered in D-Chowk just after noon on Sunday.
Constable Abdul Hameed, of the Islamabad Police, was under treatment at the PIMS hospital. He had been assaulted by enraged PTI workers.
Details indicate that the Islamabad police official was injured during clashes between police and PTI workers amidst PTI protests in the federal capital.
He later died while receiving medical treatment.
According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, Abdul Hamid was on law and order duty at Chungi No 26. He was assigned to the Investigation Wing and was a resident of Abbottabad.
Hameed joined the Islamabad Police in 1988 and was due to retire from service after three months.
The funeral prayers for the deceased were held in D-Chowk, according to an announcement from the police. The funeral had originally been scheduled to take place in Police Lines.
The funeral was attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
